Fear of God x adidas Basketball Sneakers

Jerry Lorenzo, the visionary founder of Fear of God, has built a reputation for his ability to keep fans on the edge of their seats with suspense. In late 2020, Fear of God and adidas announced a groundbreaking partnership that would not only see Lorenzo leading adidas Basketball's creative and business strategies but also introducing Fear of God Athletics, a new sub-label to complement the brand's existing lines, Essentials and main-line clothing. However, despite the anticipation, we have yet to witness an official release from Fear of God Athletics as we approach 2024. Nevertheless, there have been official previews of select items, as well as exciting leaks, including a recent detailed look at an upcoming Fear of God x adidas Basketball sneaker, courtesy of the ever-active sneaker leaker, Knowing Kicks.

The sneaker, first spotted on Lorenzo himself in May, presents a mid-cut, basketball-inspired design featuring a two-piece synthetic upper in black and grey. The thick black rope laces are secured by a TPU Three Stripe graphic overlay on the midfoot, serving as both eyestays and a distinctive design element. For enhanced fit customization, a toggle on the neoprene collar is provided. Apart from the midfoot overlay, the only branding comes in the form of a black Fear of God badge on the rear of the sleek, semi-transparent midsole, potentially housing BOOST cushioning. A herringbone outsole completes the aesthetic.

As of now, the shoe's official name and release date remain unknown. However, adidas previously indicated that Fear of God Athletics would launch in the second half of 2023, suggesting a potential release before the year's end. The increasing number of leaks in recent months, including three Rivalry Low 86 colorways and a retro running-inspired model, further fuels speculation of an imminent arrival.

Back in 2020, Lorenzo expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, "This [partnership] is a fearless move where shared vision and conviction are at the heart of the accretion of two brands shaping sports and culture, with the purpose to truly multiply our nuanced strengths to revolutionize the performance basketball industry forever." He added that adidas and Fear of God both share a dream for the future of basketball, both on and off the court, and look forward to transforming the industry through a new model that will unfold in the coming years.

While fans eagerly await a release date, they continue to dream of the moment when they can finally get their hands on these highly-anticipated sneakers.
