In addition to the obvious practical purposes for doing so, wearing sneakers has long been a method of self-expression. People have been wearing Converse Chuck Taylors long after their use on the basketball court had grown outdated due to their undeniable rock-and-roll cool look.
The same is true for the adidas Superstar and hip-hop, and there really is no need to go on about street culture’s obsession with Air Jordan retros over the last two decades plus; young people rock Jays who are not even old enough to have watched MJ lace them up and grace them on the hardwood.
So why not a faith-based sneaker? It is no secret that Christian-themed clothing has long had a presence in American culture as well as in other countries. Everything from cross necklaces to graphic tees to WWJD bracelets are all around, worn by believers and readily available to be purchased. Until now, though, Christianity has not established a strong foothold in the shoe game.
Enter Alma Savior and its first offering: the Miracle One, which they advertise, in their own words, as “a symbol of faith in motion,” designed to “merge luxury craftsmanship and spiritual expression.” The brand states that the Miracle One was constructed with a premium crème leather upper, a signature red interior lining, and a durable, elevated sole for all-day wear. It only takes one look at the outsole to convince a potential buyer that Alma Savior is in no way kidding about its durability; the traction looks rugged and dependable in the elements.
Of course, the defining feature of the Miracle One is the artwork. The side panels on the upper feature hand-placed, faith-inspired artwork featuring Jesus in the presence of his followers. The artwork is in a traditional European-style, and it makes a strong statement about the person wearing them. Donning the Miracle One clearly indicates that the wearer is proud of their beliefs. It is not just a sneaker; it’s a conversation-starter, putting anyone who sports them in a position to spread the good word, just as Jesus did.
The Miracle One is currently available for pre-order exclusively via Alma Savior for $249 USD. A hefty price tag, to be certain. However, to the right person, if the sneaker is built with half the beauty and quality it appears to be, it just might be more than worth it.
