Karimoku Debut Lighting Collection

Karimoku, the renowned Japanese lifestyle brand, has made its foray into the world of lighting with its inaugural collection. Developed in collaboration with lantern maker Kojima Shoten, the collection showcases the expertise of both brands. The standout piece, N-PL01, features a striking triangular shape crafted from a wooden bamboo frame and adorned with Washi paper. Inspired by Karimoku's case study 03 summerhouse, which was also designed by Norm Architects, the lamp's design pays homage to the steeped roof construction of the building.

The attention to detail in the N-PL01 is remarkable. The paper cord references the signature elements found in Karimoku's furniture line, as well as the ropes and lines commonly seen around nearby harbors. To create a soft and diffused light, a piece of Washi paper is placed at the bottom of the shade, held in place by magnets. Changing the bulb is a breeze, as it can be easily removed and snapped back into position.

Kojima Shoten expressed their commitment to exploring new possibilities while maintaining their traditional manufacturing methods. This collaboration with Karimoku and Norm Architects has resulted in lamps that exude a modern and architectural aesthetic, perfectly suited for interior lighting.

Norm Architects shared their belief that the partnership between Kojima Shoten's traditional Japanese manufacturing techniques and Karimoku's high-tech high-touch philosophy is beautifully represented in the newest addition to the Karimoku Collection.

The N-PL01 lantern is available in two exquisite wood finishes: Pure Oak and Smoked Oak. It now joins Karimoku's permanent collection, adding a captivating and functional lighting option to their range.
