seconde/seconde/ x MAEN Manhattan 37 MSS.02 Watch

French creative Romaric André, known by his alias seconde/seconde/, is once again making waves with his witty and inventive watch collaborations. This time, he joins forces with the esteemed Swedish watch brand MAEN for their second joint timepiece. The collaborative wristwatch marks the launch of MAEN's Manhattan Project, commencing with a bold reinterpretation of their Manhattan 37 model.

The Manhattan 37 model draws inspiration from the glamorous aesthetics of the 1970s, a golden era for luxurious timepieces featuring integrated bracelets. While the overall silhouette and specifications of the watch remain unchanged, the classic embellishments have been consciously eliminated from the elegant Côtes de Genève dial. This omission serves as a poignant symbol, representing the chilling repercussions of the original Manhattan Project.

A trefoil motif, commonly recognized as the universal ionizing radiation symbol, gracefully connects the hour and minute hands of the watch. The distinctive design element further pays homage to the collaborative theme. On the reverse side of the watch case, one will discover a special engraving featuring a 1965 quote from J. Robert Oppenheimer.

The seconde/seconde/ x MAEN Manhattan 37 MSS.02 limited edition watch is priced at $1,057 USD and will be available for pre-order for a limited 24-hour period, starting on June 7th at 4 p.m. Stockholm time/10 a.m. EDT. For more details on the watch, be sure to visit the dedicated webpage on MAEN's website.
