Renowned auction house Sotheby's has recently announced a partnership with digital asset security provider Ledger, aiming to enhance security and provide a seamless experience for collectors of digital art. The collaboration includes the introduction of a limited edition co-branded Ledger Nano X hardware wallet, which will be exclusively offered to buyers of premier digital art auction lots starting in 2024.

The Ledger Nano X features a brushed metal casing in Sotheby's signature blue, with the inscription "Sotheby's EST. 1744" etched across the top. To add a touch of elegance, the wallet is accompanied by a silver chain, allowing collectors the option to wear their device. Additionally, the collaboration plans to launch an exclusive Sotheby's x Ledger Stax wallet in the future, which will be Ledger's most advanced cold storage device to date.

These wallets are designed to simplify digital art collection management, catering to both experienced collectors and newcomers with a user-friendly interface. Sotheby's has emphasized that the presentation of these wallets will be accompanied by a white-glove concierge onboarding service, ensuring the utmost satisfaction for clients.

In addition to the security solutions, the partnership will introduce a cross-branded educational series through Ledger Academy. This series aims to enrich collectors' understanding of digital art fundamentals, including topics such as self-custody and decentralization, while providing guidance on best security practices to safeguard their digital assets.

Ian Rogers, Chief Experience Officer at Ledger, highlighted the importance of security and self-custody for collectors of digital art. He noted that digital ownership is attracting new collectors and artists, creating a new paradigm for existing art collectors. This collaboration between Sotheby's and Ledger aims to address these evolving needs and provide collectors with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate the world of digital art securely.

Overall, this collaboration between Sotheby's and Ledger represents a significant step in the realm of digital art, elevating security measures and education for collectors in this emerging market.
