Hermès Women’s Fall/Winter 2024 Runway Show

In a surprising twist, guests attending Hermès' Fall/Winter 2024 show at la Garde républicaine in Paris found themselves caught in a downpour. However, this unexpected rain perfectly reflected the inspiration behind creative director Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski's latest collection - the changing elements.

The show notes explained that Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski envisioned an urban woman navigating a transformed world. Unfazed by a little rain, this fearless woman confidently rides through her environment on a motorcycle or horse. And while one might be concerned about how Hermès' leather goods would fare in the drizzle, the collection boasts an innovative treatment that makes the leathers water-resilient.

To the backdrop of Romeo Void's 1981 song “Never Say Never,” models boldly stomped through puddles, showcasing Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski's range of neutrals including burgundy, butter yellow, taupe, and vivid red. The outerwear selection featured structured leather zip-up coats, cropped bombers, oversized blazers with faux fur collars, and relaxed trenches. Unlike the Spring/Summer 2024 collection, which embraced modular pieces and breezy tailoring, this season embraced snugger, edgier silhouettes and layers. Every monochromatic look was impeccably crafted. Gunmetal studding added an edgy touch to skirts, jackets, and ribbed knits, while chain-like embroidery adorned silk dresses, offering an elevated take on punk-inspired elements.

As expected from Hermès, accessories played a subtle yet prominent role. Mini bowlers hung from waistbelts, slouchy totes and Birkins were held closely, and stacked leather and metal rings adorned hands.
