Jay-Z's Custom Clarks Wallabee Boots

Renowned footwear artist and colorway designer Stan Birch, also known as @staniflou on Instagram, was recently commissioned to craft custom pairs of Clarks Wallabee boots for Jay-Z and his inner circle. This collaboration was inspired by the 50th anniversary of hip-hop and the enduring friendship shared among Jay-Z and his closest confidants, including Emory Jones, Tyran "Ty-Ty" Smith, Jay Brown, Lenny Santiago, and Juan Perez.

Stan Birch aimed to create pairs that not only showcased the crew's unity but also reflected their individual tastes, inspirations, and preferences. Each pair features a matching color scheme of grey and black suede, with shaggy detailing that Birch describes as "vintaged" around the forefoot's trim. On the right shoe's lateral heel, Birch hand-painted a Paper Planes logo, symbolizing the crew's solidarity. Additionally, all pairs bear a list of each member's name printed in 22-karat gold leaf, along with Birch's logo on the left shoe's lateral heel.

The hangtags on each pair serve as the most striking element of this collaboration. Birch created 30 triangular hangtags, with six allocated to each pair. These hangtags feature various motifs and symbols that hold personal significance for each crew member. Examples include recognizable logos like the Grammy Awards logo and Def Jam wordmark, as well as references to individual preferences such as Tyran "Ty-Ty" Smith's favorite drink, the Mai Tai. Furthermore, seven rectangular laser-cut fobs display Jay-Z's lyrics about his friends. To add a final personal touch, each pair is packaged with black-and-white photos of the crew.

These custom Clarks Originals Wallabee's were made exclusively for Jay-Z and his crew and are not slated for a public release. However, if you're interested in obtaining your own pair from Stan Birch, you can reach out to him through his Flou Customs page.
