Girard-Perregaux 1966 Château Latour Edition Watch

Girard-Perregaux, a prestigious Swiss watchmaking manufacturer with a rich heritage, has joined forces with the renowned Château Latour vineyard to create a truly exceptional timepiece - the 1966 Château Latour Edition. What sets this watch apart is its unique dial, crafted from exquisite pebbles sourced directly from the vineyard.

Both Girard-Perregaux and Château Latour are using this collaboration to showcase their long-standing legacies. Girard-Perregaux boasts an illustrious history, marked by notable achievements such as winning a first-class prize at the Neuchâtel Observatory in 1867 and a gold medal at the 1889 Universal Exhibition in Paris. The 1966 collection, to which this timepiece belongs, celebrates the award-winning Gyromatic HF movement, designed to embody elegance and timelessness.

Château Latour, on the other hand, dates back to 1331 and is one of the top five "Premiers Crus Classés" estates in France's Médoc region, renowned for its exceptional wine production. The vineyard's terroir, shaped by its unique climate and geology, plays a pivotal role in the quality of its renowned wines.

Creating the dial for each 1966 Château Latour Edition watch is a meticulous and intricate process. Skilled artisans spend around 30 hours meticulously thinning the pebbles to a delicate 0.45mm sliver, which is then carefully mounted on a brass base. The natural variations in the pebbles guarantee that each watch dial is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

The case of this exceptional timepiece is crafted from elegant pink gold, designed to harmonize with the subtle yellow tones of the pebble dial. It features graceful golden leaf-shaped hands, slender indexes, a central seconds hand, and a date display. The sapphire crystal case-back, adorned with the iconic Château Latour logo, provides a captivating view of the Calibre GP03300 self-winding movement, showcasing its impeccable finishing techniques.

With only 18 pieces to be produced, this limited edition watch will be exclusively available to private guests of the Château Latour estate and the Villa Girard-Perregaux in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
