In a remarkable collaboration that spans two decades, Yohji Yamamoto and adidas have continuously pushed the boundaries of footwear and apparel with their innovative Y-3 line, which was first introduced in 2003. This partnership has consistently delivered new silhouettes that redefine the norms of both industries. Continuing their quest for the unexplored, Y-3 has now unveiled two daring iterations of the GENDO silhouette, poised to captivate sneaker enthusiasts worldwide.
What sets these sneakers apart is their departure from the conventional shoe structure. Both the Pro Model and the Superstar boast a completely hollowed-out TPU plate, an audacious design choice that showcases Yohji Yamamoto's penchant for unconventional aesthetics. The Y-3 GENDO Superstar combines the iconic Superstar upper shape with the distinctive GENDO sole unit, featuring Yamamoto's signature branding on the lateral heel. On the other hand, the Y-3 GENDO Pro Model, available in sleek black and white leather colorways, replaces traditional laces with a zip closure for a contemporary twist.
The Y-3 GENDO Pro Model and Superstar sneakers are both available now through adidas, Yohji Yamamoto, and select retailers worldwide. The Y-3 GENDO Superstar is priced at $800 USD, while the price for the Y-3 GENDO Pro Model is $825 USD.
