Canadian designer Philippe Malouin has unveiled his inaugural creation for Flos —a captivating and whimsical table lamp known as the Bilboquet lamp. Inspired by the concept of a magnetic ball joint and the traditional French game of bilboquet, this lamp embodies an almost anthropomorphic quality in its design. The Bilboquet lamp consists of two vibrant cylinders connected by a magnetic sphere, reminiscent of a magnetic ball joint. The top cylinder has the ability to rotate fully around the sphere, allowing the light to be directed in any desired direction. Drawing from the shape of the bilboquet game tool—a wooden ball tied to a string with a cup-like structure—the lamp showcases a similar silhouette.
