MING has recently unveiled its highly anticipated LW.01 time-telling model, which has been years in the making. The independent watchmaker set out to create the world's most lightweight mechanical wristwatch, and the result is the MING LW.01M (Manual) and LW.01 (Automatic) models, weighing 8.8 grams and 10.8 grams respectively, excluding straps.

Both versions of the LW.01 feature a 38mm wide watch case made of magnesium alloy, which is coated with PEO (Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation) for enhanced resistance against wear and corrosion The dial, also crafted from PEO-treated AZ31 magnesium alloy, showcases MING's signature minimalist aesthetics. Various elements of the dial draw inspiration from the brand's previous creations, such as the shuriken hour hand from the 17.03 model, the pulse seconds disc from the collaborative Simpleton with ochs und junior, and the skeleton peripheral ring from series 19.

As part of the Special Projects Cave, the LW.01 is being offered in a limited run of 200 examples. It is currently available for ordering on MING's website, with a price tag of 19,500 CHF (approximately $21,750 USD).
